Autumn Leaves Cheese Festival 2008

By Thomas Camm/Artisan Made-Northeast

The brainchild of Artisan Made-Northeast, Taylor Farm and Cato Corner Farm the Autumn Leaves Cheese Festival is a continuation of on-farm activities for consumers and retailers that started in 2005 with the Vermont Artisan Experience.

Our first event was a series of on-farm work experiences for consumers and retailers culminating in an artisan food dinner at a VT restaurant that featured locally produced foods.

The Autumn Leaves Cheese Festival was our next on-farm activity. The idea behind the festival is to give attendees a glimpse into a small working farm and to taste the fruit of the artisan’s labor-the farmstead cheeses and handcrafted foods that so honestly express the unique flavors of the Northeast region.

In 2006, Taylor Farm in VT hosted our first festival and in 2007, the second annual Autumn Leaves Cheese Festival was held at Valley Shepherd Creamery in Long Valley, New Jersey, where over 1500 guests tasted cheeses and handcrafted specialty foods from across the Northeast regon.

For this year's festival, we are currently in the process of deciding on a location and putting together our vendor list along with entertainment and children's activities.

We've learned a lot from attendees at the festival over these past two years - so expect more farmstead cheeses and a wider variety of artisan made specialty foods for your enjoyment at this year's event.

As soon as the site is selected and the date and time, we will post it on the Artisan Events Calendar.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help at this year's festival can e-mail us at: info@artisanmade-ne.com.

We hope to see you all at this year's festival!
